Aims and Objectives
As a club we aim to provide a safe, happy and structured environment for children to learn and enjoy gymnastics. To achieve this we work around a child structured philosophy, so they can feel secure in our care and enjoy what we teach them. In addition to improving gymnastics and trampoline skills we aim to embrace other areas of children’s development including social skills, creativity and imagination, co-ordination, flexibility, agility, endurance, speed, strength, balance and emotional independence.
We aspire to provide a child/member centered, coach-led learning environment where we aim to develop members to their optimum level of performance.
Booking is required for all of our sessions. If you would like to book into a class, please ring the office to enquire which class would be suitable for your child or email us.
If your child has done gymnastics previously or has competed in competitions before, we may offer a trail session to assess level of ability and contact you with suitable development or novice sessions.
Please note that booking MUST be made through the office. We will not accept children into the classes if they are not on the register.
Once booked into a class, we offer the first two weeks as pay-as-you-go taster sessions.
After the second trial week we will need the Zero Gravity Registration and Consent form signed in order to carry on with classes. Before the start of the third week, Direct Debits must be set up and your child must be registered with British Gymnastics Insurance. Registration forms must be handed back at the start of the third session.
If you do not wish to carry on after the second trial please inform the admin staff on Reception that you will no longer be returning.
We will endeavour to run classes every single session (except in holiday periods- see term dates for details). However in the unlikely event that a session has to be cancelled (including but not limited to....severe weather conditions, flooding) we regret we will not be able to refund that lesson. If a lesson is to be cancelled, Zero Gravity Academy will notify parents by putting a message on Facebook and will send an email out to all parents via Mailchimp. Please ensure your email is up to date in order to receive regular updates and important information.
We start with a 10 minute warm up, stretch and floor lines then the children are put into groups with a coach.
Floor skills are covered every week with 3-4 rotations of apparatus work (vault, beam, bars, foam pit, trampette work)
During these sessions the children will be working towards a level badge and certificate (with a specific badge session per term). If you have an enquiry about your Child's progress please come in and see a member of staff.
Children naturally progress at their own rate and therefore we aim to support them though this process. Children do not necessarily do badge skills every week. This is especially important if they are stuck on one or two things, as this can be rather repetitive and de-motivating if they were only doing these things week after week. Rather, we aim to teach the children through progressions, and then after a few weeks we often find a child will naturally achieve their badge skill as they have built up the moves in the previous weeks to allow them to do that skill more easily.
Please also be assured that if your child is stuck on one or two badge skills, that where possible they will also be working towards their next badge as well.
Please ensure to arrive on time for your session. All gymnasts should be present for the warm up part of the session. Any child not partaking in the warm up will not be able to join in the rest of the sessions activities. Zero Gravity cannot refund participants for sessions missed due to absence, illness or injury.
Leotards are preferable although shorts/leggings and t-shirts are acceptable.
Please do not wear, jeans, crop tops, belts, buckles, buttons, dangling decorations.
Hair should be tied back
NO EARRINGS, JEWELLERY OR WATCHES
NO CHEWING GUM OR FOOD
Drinks must be brought into the gym.
We cannot take any responsibility for any personal property brought to the club.
Payment and Insurance
For new children we allow weekly payments for the first two sessions. After the trial sessions we will need conformation you would like to take up the space. Please note that payment must be made one week after the second session in order to retain a place within the class. Direct Debit information and insurance fee information will be given to you after the second taster along with a registration form. All children are required to have British Gymnastics insurance and ZGA club membership in order to participate.
More information regarding payment information can be viewed in Reception and will be given to you on the 2nd taster session.
If you wish to stop completely and no longer want to continue classes with us, a one month's written notice must be given for participants to stop activities and payments to cease. The admin staff will cancel your direct debit for you. Direct Debits MUST NOT BE CANCELLED BY YOU.
Zero Gravity has parking spaces at the front of the building. Due to limited spaces, we ask parents to double park. If spaces are full, we have access to over 30 spaces behind the back of the building. There is a road to the right side of the building that takes you to these parking spaces. Please note that these spaces are available after 5pm during the week only.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK NEAR TRAVIS PERKINS ENTRANCE DUE TO TURNING LORRIES.

•Treat everyone within the club with respect. (Verbal/physical abuse will not be tolerated)
•Only practice skills you have been taught by your coach
•Be sensible and do not dare others to try new skills the coach has not taught
•Never go underneath a trampoline
•Wear appropriate sports clothing as stated in the dress code
•Pay attention to coaches and others around you when in the gym
•Inform the coach of any pre-existing injury or medical condition (including recent head injuries)
•Only use the gymnastics equipment when your coach is present and has given permission to do so
•Never discuss other gymnasts on social networking or other media sites without their consent
•Never bully or belittle any other member of the club within or outside the gym
Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

•Encourage your child to learn the rules and participate by them
•Support your child regardless of their level
•Complete all club registration forms and keep details up to date
•To arrive at session on time
•Make sure you child is wearing appropriate clothing and taken jewelry off
•Share concerns about any aspect of the club with staff first. NOT other gymnasts or parents
•Inform a member of staff if you are going to be late in picking up your child
•Have responsibility of your child outside of the class (that is, until their class starts, and when they exit the hall after their class).
•If your child has had sickness and diarrhea in the past 48 hours please don’t bring your child to Zero Gravity, to help prevent spreading infection.
Coaches Code of Conduct

•Maintain good time keeping
•Adhere to Zero Gravity policies and procedures
•Promote fair play in sport
•Praise members for their efforts, not just achievements
•Make sure you are teaching appropriate skills for age, ability, and experience and using relevant progression. Prepare the children physically and mentally for new skills.
•ALWAYS report any incident, referrals or disclosures immediately. Use guidelines set out in BG Child Protection policy.
•Follow all guidelines laid down by British Gymnastics.
ZERO GRAVITY RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK ANYONE NOT COMPLYING WITH THE CODE OF CONDUCT TO LEAVE.
General Safety Guidelines and Child Safety
All coaches and helpers are DBS checked and have undertaken Safeguarding and Protecting Children Training
•Parents are responsible for children outside the gym.
•No running in building EXCEPT when part of activity within the gym
•No mobile phones within the gym.
•No eating/drinking in the gym
•No cameras/videos in the gym or from the viewing windows
•No obstructing fire exits
•No parents in the gym unless you need to see a member of staff.
•Please allow children to enter/ exit the gym freely- DO NOT BLOCK THE FIRE EXITS AND ENTRANCE
•Follow all Zero Gravity Rules
•Do not leave litter in the building or car park
•Only use equipment when supervised by a coach
•Parents are responsible for their children outside the class; that is, until their class starts, and when they exit the gym after their class. Your child is not allowed to wait in the gym whilst waiting for their class to start. They must remain outside the gym in your care until they are called in.
•If you need to take your child out of the class early you must inform a member of staff at the desk. Please ensure you do this before warm up has ended.
•If you want to leave the building during your child’s class please check we have an up to date contact number
•Supervise your child/children in the car park due to moving vehicles.
•Please ensure your child wears shoes in and out of the building.
Child Protection and the Welfare Officer
As required by British Gymnastics we have a trained welfare officer within the club. Please see notice board inside the hall or the website for current identification.
The club welfare officer is the first point of contact for club staff, volunteers, young people and parents, for any issue concerning child welfare, poor practice or potential/ alleged abuse.
If anyone has any issues please feel free to talk to our club officer, conversations will comply with the clubs confidentiality policies and child protection national guidelines.
EGTC has adopted Data Protection Regulation in line with the new GDPR coming into force on 25th May 2018.
Zero Gravity strives to ensure that all individuals are equally valued and everyone treats each other with respect. People will not be discriminated against because of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, faith, culture or family background and social status.
Zero Gravity will not accept any discrimination towards others and actions of this nature will be dealt with very seriously. The person responsible may be asked not to return to the club.
Please take your child to the toilet before their lesson starts. In the event that your child does need the toilet during the lesson, young children in Pre-school, Stepping Stones, Ninja Gym classes will be taken to the door by the coach and a member of staff on Reception will make sure they join the class again.
PLEASE DO NOT OBSTRUCT THE FIRE EXITS
In the event of a fire please DO NOT enter the gym to retrieve your child as staff will be evacuating them in their groups.
If an accident happens outside of the gym then please contact a member of staff at Reception. First Aid provisions are available from Reception.
Any accidents that take place within the gym will be dealt with by the coaches.
All accidents will be recorded in the Accident Book. In the event of a serious injury (for example head injuries, sprains, breaks or dislocations) the parent will be notified.
In the event that an ambulance is required, a member of staff will contact the parent/guardian as soon as possible.
Confidentiality/ Data Protection
Zero Gravity has adopted Data Protection Regulation in line with the new GDPR coming into force on 25th May 2018. Members are informed of our Privacy Statement and data protection policy and are entitled to ask for this information at any time.
Everyone has the right to attend the club/ work without the fear of harassment or abuse on the grounds of gender, race or colour, mental or physical disability, learning ability, age, religious or political beliefs.
Harassment may include:
•Physical contact from touching or assault
•Verbal or written harassment. Offensive language, gossip, comments of a discriminatory manner
•Intimidating behaviour towards children, parents or staff.
Please note that harassment of any kind will not be tolerated and you could be asked to leave to club.

Zero Gravity Academy is committed to providing a safe, stimulating, consistent and accessible service for children and their parents/carers. We always aim to provide high quality services for everyone, but accept that sometimes things do not always go to plan. In such circumstances, we want to know that we can put them right and learn from our mistakes.
Usually it should be possible to resolve any problems as soon as they occur. If not then the parent/carer should follow the formal complaints procedure set out in the Complaints Procedure. Under normal circumstances the Club Coach in charge of the session will be responsible for managing complaints.
We believe that most complaints can be resolved easily if they are raised in the early stages. All communications are taken seriously and are dealt with fairly and in a way that respects confidentiality.
If it is about a member of staff's conduct, or a matter of bullying, or breach of our policies then please bring it to the attention of the welfare officer or the manager.
If it is a matter that needs to be dealt with as a matter of urgency, please approach a senior member of management at Reception. Do not distract a coach whilst they are teaching.
Any complaints made must be in a timely and respectful manner, in line with the parent code of conduct.
